Steady Install has revolutionized the way businesses find contract labor. The platform focuses on the unique needs of installation and moving companies, bridging the gap between businesses that need intermittent labor and experienced installers that want consistent but flexible work.
Through the user-friendly web portal, companies effortlessly fill their labor needs by simply posting the project details and requirements. Clients customize the workers that are invited to the project by requesting any number of workers ranked by 4 LEVELS. After the project goes live, invitations are extended to the network of thousands of contract installers and laborers that align with the project’s required expertise. The invites are sent in a cadence based on a scheduling algorithm built on data from tens of thousands of shifts.
This simple design grants businesses the single easiest way to fill labor needs in a truly on-demand fashion, filling needs as soon as the day or night before the project. As for the workers, the platform grants them extreme flexibility for their schedule and empowers them to only accept the projects they prefer.
How We Started
After graduating from The University of Michigan (Go Blue!), Benjamin Bottner's journey led him to become the Co-founder and President of Choice New York, a property and asset management company. Over the course of 8 skillful years, Benjamin gained a profound understanding of the intricacies involved in managing and staffing commercial buildings. With humble beginnings consisting of no employees in a small windowless office, the company grew to a staff of just under 200 employees prior to his exit in 2018. During this tenure, he not only excelled in property management but also identified an unfortunate truth in commercial real estate: the process of staffing and managing commercial installations was an absolute mess.
He witnessed firsthand the struggle that businesses faced in sourcing and managing skilled labor for their installation needs. From the challenge of locating capable installers, to the complexities of overseeing them in projects that experience consistent changes, it was a nightmare to deal with. The inefficiencies, delays, and frustrations became glaringly evident. These challenges urged Benjamin to ask certain questions:
What if there was an easier way to connect experienced installers with businesses in need of their expertise? What if the whole contracting labor process could be done online in 1 minute? What if all of the extra costs of this process were removed? What if businesses could fill their labor needs the day before a project?
With a determination to simplify the process, Benjamin conceived a new vision.
In 2019, Benjamin embarked on his new endeavor and introduced the B2B gig platform designed to streamline all processes related to contract labor for commercial installations. This platform, now known as Steady Install, serves as the culmination of his efforts to revolutionize how businesses access and manage skilled install labor for their projects.
